AJ&D Chapelhow (Cliburn) Ltd is a family business established by Alan Chapelhow in 1961 and based in the heart of the Eden Valley, Cumbria.
We are proud to supply a truly British quality product from design to installation. Our workshop team consists of over 20 skilled craftspeople utilising the latest technical innovations combined with heritage skills and techniques handed down over generations.
We manufacture fully glazed, handcrafted, timber windows, doors, patios and bi-fold doors, we offer a ‘supply only’ or supply and fitting’ service throughout the UK
We also utilise British suppliers when sourcing our ironmongery & fittings and our timber is sourced only from suppliers that hold either the FSC® or PEFC™ chain of custody certification schemes.

We offer a free quotation service and also a measuring service for Supply and Fit project so if you are looking for a quotation either from an on-site visit, detailed plans or a sketch with estimated sizes we are happy to help. Alternatively we are more than happy to send one of our joiners to any job that requires on-site measuring, ensuring peace of mind and the quality of service for which we are renowned.

Our Commitment To The Environment
Growing trees are essential to absorb carbon dioxide and give out oxygen but as they become older they become less able to absorb carbon dioxide. It is therefore essential that we harvest the trees and replace them with younger ones. Under the rules of certified forest management, for every tree cut down, two new ones are planted.
The Finest Quality Sustainable Timber
Timber is an environmentally friendly building material and positively contributes to health and wellbeing. Here at AJ&D Chapelhow we purchase timber only from sources that hold either the FSC® or PEFC™ chain of custody certification schemes.
The timber is carefully selected by ourselves to ensure we reach the highest standard of quality and in accordance with BS1186 Part 1 1986. Where specified our windows and doors can also be manufactured using the finest hardwood with choices varying from Redwood to Oak or other specified timber. Visit our all about wood page.
In the past two years we have replaced our old inefficient generators to use a green technology that now produces our electricity which in turn has reduced our carbon footprint. All the heat which the generator creates is refocused internally back into our workshops and spray room eliminating the need for additional heating.
