Listed and conservation properties

Here at AJ&D Chapelhow we are very proud of our long history of creating traditional timber windows and doors for listed and conservation properties. For 60 years we have been helping clients with buildings from a huge range of historical periods to meet planning, conservation and preservation rules for their particular area.

Understand the planning rules

The first step is to make sure you understand the planning rules as all authorities assess on a case by case basis, taking into account the significance of any changes you wish to make. Bear in mind that  planning officers are looking for evidence that you understand the importance of preserving the character of the building as far as possible.

Our talented joiners satisfy these rules. Their  heritage skills have been handed down through generations and these skills combined with the latest Computer Aided design programmes mean that we are able to supply (or supply and fit) timber doors and windows which will bring your property back to life, enhancing security whilst keeping the heat in and the cold out.

We are fully conversant with listed building and planning legislation laws and are more than happy to offer support and drawings to help with your planning application. We can provide traditional sliding sash windows with weights, cords and pulleys, sliding sash windows on balances or Casement windows which can either be timber bead or putty pointed depending on your application rules.

We are also able to colour match to your existing shade and depending on your application our windows can be fitted with either single glazing, or 18mm double glazing
