Wood the natural choice for traditional or contemporary windows and doors

Wood has been the natural choice for windows and doors for centuries. As an important long term investment wooden windows and doors add value to your home, save on fuel bills, reduce condensation, improve peace and quiet, and reduce the time you have to spend on maintenance.  All our timber is purchased only from sources that hold either the  FSC® or PEFC™ chain of custody certification schemes.

We generally use the following types of wood for our wooden windows and doors although we are able to work with any types specified.

ACCOYA:

A high performance wood, Accoya is created from sustainably-sourced softwood. Accoya undergoes a proprietary, non-toxic acetylation process that permanently modifies the wood to the core. The result: an environmentally friendly solid wood with durability, dimensional stability and beauty that matches or exceeds even the best tropic hardwood.

Accoya wood is perfect for demanding applications such as windows and doors, where it is important that tolerances are tight  regardless of the weather conditions.

OAK
Oak is a much loved hardwood, consistently used for hundreds of years in building construction.  Oak has incredible strength and durability, using oak as your timber of choice for window frames or doors will result in incredibly long-lasting beautiful windows.

SAPELE
Sapele, is a member of the mahogany family, originating from tropical Africa and grows to incredible dimensions; up to a height of 45m and a diameter of 10m. Sapele has exceptional stability, good durability, strength, and density, it is cost effective and can be used both internally and externally.

The hardness, medium density, and propensity for straight grained boles, makes Sapele wood very stable. Being much harder than African or American mahogany, the resistance to indention, bending strength, and stiffness is almost equal to oak.

REDWOOD
Redwood is a premium building wood. Perfect for almost any outdoor application Redwood can also be used on the interior of a home. All our Redwood is pressure treated with full immersion using Protim©
